Niall Horan was forced to pull out of an appearance on Ireland’s Late Late Show after falling ‘extremely ill’ while on a flight.

The One Direction star, 28, had been due to speak to host Ryan Tubridy from his home in Los Angeles, and the huge golf fan was expected to pay tribute to golfer Leona Maguire who was appearing on the show.

However, the show’s official Twitter account revealed the singer was not able to make the call, tweeting: ‘We’re deva! Unfortunately @NiallOfficial won’t be able to make tonight’s show.

‘He’s very poorly & is so disappointed that he couldn’t be on the #LateLate tonight. However he is very proud of @leona_maguire and all that she has achieved!!’

They added: ‘Get well & see you soon Niall.’

Earlier in the day, Niall had tweeted: ‘thank you to the staff on that @British_Airways flight. I was extremely ill and they took such good care of me.’

British Airways responded and thanked Niall for his ‘lovely comments about the care you received from our crew on your flight’.

They added: ‘We’ll be sure to pass on your thanks to them.’

The singer did not elaborate further on what had caused his illness, but onlookers claimed Niall had ended up throwing up on board the flight to the USA.

A source on the same flight told Mail Online, that while the singer initially seemed well, he ‘later on had wet, cold towels around his head and neck.

‘On final descent he was vomiting quite violently.’

They added that the cabin crew arranged for BA Special Services to meet Niall when the plane landed and escort him to baggage reclaim.

Niall is said to have remained in good spirits despite being poorly, and is even claimed to have signed an autograph for a fan after the flight.

They added: ‘[Niall] could not have been more polite and welcoming. He seemed a little bit better at baggage reclaim.’
