New Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers wants to sign Celtic duo Callum McGregor and James Forrest, according to reports.

Rodgers has made the controversial decision to leave Celtic despite being on the brink of completing a historic treble Treble with the Scottish club.

The former Liverpool boss has signed a deal with Leicester City which keeps him at the club until 2022, while his first game in charge will be against Watford on Sunday.

According to The Times, Rodgers is already targeting two Celtic players ahead of the summer transfer window, with the Scottish club ‘braced’ to receive bids for McGregor and Forrest.

McGregor has played a key role in Rodgers’ midfield this season with six goals and 10 assists, while 27-year-old Forrest is Celtic’s star man on their right flank with 13 goals and 18 assists this term.

The report claims that McGregor is valued at £15m, while Forrest, who signed a contract extension in September, would be available for £10m.

Meanwhile, former Celtic striker Moussa Dembele has taken a swipe at Rodgers following his decision to join Leicester before Celtic’s season had ended.

Dembele, who now plays for Lyon in Ligue 1, responded to Celtic’s post on Twitter which confirmed Rodgers’ departure with the message: ‘I told you.’
