Nando’s ditches mango and lime flavour and replaces it with passionfruit and mango

Goodbye mango and lime, hello passionfruit and mango (Picture: Nando’s)

What sort of Nando’s person are you? Extra hot? Mild? or just plain-ish (there’s no shame in not being able to handle the heat).

Well, if you’re towards the bottom of the PERi-ometer and like the mango and lime baste, we have some bad news. It’s time to say goodbye to your favourite.

The flavour will be removed from menus from 3 February.

It will be replaced with a new limited edition passionfruit and mango flavour.

The new flavour will be on menus for four months and after that, there will be another seasonal flavour on the menu, meaning there will be new combinations to try all the time.

You’ll be able to choose it as a baste for any of the meat or vegetarian/vegan main dishes, as normal.

A spokesperson for Nando’s said: ‘The new, Mild spice has been introduced following the success of Passion Fruit at Nando’s Yard last summer; a tropical and exotic flavour, passion fruit grows across Nando’s Southern African heartland, and is the perfect match for PERi-PERi Chicken.

‘This tangy new flavour is perfect for those who like a little sweetness on their wings or want to try something different on their burger. ‘

Mango and lime fans have just four days to have one last taste of their favourite sauce before it disappears for good.

In other Nando’s news, they added vegan PERinaise to the menu earlier this month so vegans can dip their chips or beanie burgers.

You can still get the original PERinaise too but if you can’t eat egg products, the vegan version, marked with a green cap, is now an option.
