A MUM has revealed that her best friend is furious with her, after she revealed that her friend’s choice of baby name had a rude meaning in her language.
The woman, who’s first language is Portuguese, said that her friend Becca and her husband like to make up “unique” names for their children, and has managed to invent “genuinely nice names” for her daughters.

Taking to Reddit, the mum revealed that Becca had been really struggling to come up with a name for her new baby and was really excited when she found a new one.
The name Becca had chosen for her child was Narina, which in Portuguese means “nostril”.
After revealing the name, the mum’s four year old son burst into a fit of laughter, and Becca begged to find out why.
The mum shared the name’s meaning, and said that Becca seemed “really sad” by the revelation.

After the mum got home, she said that Becca’s husband called her and was “furious” at her for “ruining” the baby’s name.
The husband and Becca had had a fight, because Becca had insisted that they pick a different name for the baby.
She said: “He argued they’d “never visit Brazil anyway”, so they shouldn’t have to change the name, but Becca refused to use Narina.
“My husband agrees that their fight is not my fault, but thinks I didn’t need to tell Becca anything, since Americans are unlikely to know what Narina means.”
The mum said that she had suggested the couple name their daughter something similar instead, such as “Marina”.
However, Becca and her husband were not impressed by this suggestion, as they said they only like to use names that they have made up themselves, by mixing syllables together.
Reddit users flooded the post’s replies section with their thoughts, with many people shocked at the name suggestion.
One person said: “I’m shocked they didn’t bother googling their name ideas as they came up with them.
“I see narina as nostril on the first page of search results.”
A second person said: As a fellow Brazilian, I’m impressed you were able to control yourself when she told you.

“I would’ve probably left a little giggle escape, I mean, can you imagine a little nostril running around?
“Impossible not to laugh at least a little haha.”
A third person said: ” There are a lot of names that sound nice in one language but mean something rude in another language. Benjamin is a perfectly respectable name in English, but in Japan “ben” is slang for “sh**.”
“I have an uncle Mark, but “mark” means “worm” in Norwegian.”
