Mums reveal they regret their baby’s name – after celebs chose the same one for their kid

PARENTS are regretting their kid’s name after celebrities chose the same one for their child.

It has emerged one in seven mums and dads think they’ve made a “terrible mistake” when picking their youngster’s name.

Millions now despise their child’s name, and shockingly more than a quarter of parents have told their children they regret their name choice.

A study of 2,000 parents found one in five began to dislike their choice after the name rose in popularity, while almost one in ten were annoyed after a celebrity chose the same name for their offspring.

It emerged one in three tried to select a name which was original and unique, and were dismayed only to find dozens of other children had the same name.

Trying to find a solution, one in 20 call their child something different from what’s on their birth certificate, while 14 per cent have considered legally changing their name.

SJ Strum, baby names expert from parenting website ChannelMum.com, which carried out the study, said: “Picking your baby name is one of the most important parts of becoming a parent – and it’s also something which everyone from friends and family to total strangers has an opinion on.

“Celebrity trends mean there are an ever-growing list of baby names to choose from, but this also means more opportunities to choose a name which you, or your child, then learn to loathe.”

Some names which parents have ruled out because of their famous connection are Cheryl and Liam Payne’s son, Bear, David and Victoria’s daughter Harper, Coleen and Wayne Rooney’s son Kai, and Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s daughter Shiloh.

Also on the list of ruined names are Kourtney Kardashian’s Penelope and Mason, as are all of Kate Middleton and Prince William’s children, Charlotte, Louis and George.

But not just famous kids, it seems adult celebs are also putting prospective parents off their names.

Mums-to-be don’t want their child associated with their namesake, so are shunning Rihanna, Donald, Kourtney, Cheryl, Miley, Kylie and Zayn, among others.

Parents have also revealed which popular names they dislike because they’re ‘too common’.

This name certainly isn’t common, after a woman named her daughter Disney.

Neither are these, after mums revealed they called their kids Awesome, Buzz and Lucifer.
