Privacy is a foreign concept when you’re a parent with a young child.

Mums can’t even shower without keeping an eye on the baby but the job goes on.

A mum with a one-year-old, however, devised a plan to stop her son crying every time she left the room.

You might be familiar with the routine if you’re a mum or dad – you walk away for a second and your ears are filled with loud wails, only for the tears to dry up as soon as you re-enter the vicinity.

Of course, this routine isn’t conducive to a productive life.

So the mum, from Japan, decided to leave her son with the illusion of her presence.

Basically, she left lifesize cardboard cut-outs of herself (yes there were two, in case her son caught on) to dupe her child into thinking she’s there.

The dad, who goes by the name of @sato_nezi on Twitter shared the whole affair online where the ‘hack’ soon went viral.

He explained to Metro.co.uk that it was his idea to film the whole thing which revealed his son was won over by the cutouts.

In one cut-out, the mum is seen standing over the baby pen but out of reach as the toddler plays away.

In another, she is crouching down as if lovingly watching over him.

But both cutouts were left at a distance so the son couldn’t run over to his mum and expose the whole jig.

In videos filmed by the dad, the youngster was seen gleefully playing away but catching glances at his mum.

And for the parenting police wondering thinking this is neglectful, don’t worry, the dad was there.

The mum was also able to pop in and out every 20 minutes to make sure all was well while the son was turned away.

And he was none the wiser.

Until he grows up that is, and realises he went viral as a toddler after being duped by cardboard.

Generation Alpha problems.
