Mum praises Aldi after supermarket makes a pair of wellies especially for her autistic son, who refused to wear anything else

A MUM has taken to social media to claim that “miracles do happen” after Aldi manufactured a new pair of discontinued wellies, especially for her autistic son.

Hannah Brooks was in despair when her four-year-old son Sammy had grown out of his favourite Aldi wellies – but refused to wear anything else.

The four-year-old had been suffering from pain and blisters after squeezing his feet into his size nine boots, which were now too small.

But 30-year-old Hannah from Essex, has revealed that after posting about her dilemma online, Aldi managed to have the exact same pair of discontinued shoes manufactured in a bigger size – just for Sammy.

Sharing a picture of Sammy’s wellies, Hannah had first appealed to other mums to help her source the shoes.

“Desperately searching for these EXACT wellies in a size 10,” she wrote.

“My Sammy has autism and absolutely adores these boots (he wears them every day) but unfortunately has outgrown them.

“Have called Aldi Head Office, but they said they only go up to a nine online, however they said in store they go up larger (she thought to a 12).

“If anyone’s seen them please, please let me know.”

Hannah admitted she was beginning to lose hope when a customer service representative got in touch to explain she would “do everything she could” to source a bigger pair.

A few weeks later, the mum took to Facebook once again to praise the supermarket, after they had a pair especially made, just for Sammy.

“Miracle’s do happen,” she wrote.

“Some of you may remember the search for Sammy’s penguin wellies from Aldi, that were not available in Sammy’s size!

“Well, a lovely lady called Kim from Aldi UK got in contact with me to see if they could make him some especially!

“She contacted the manufacturer and they agreed to make them.

“Between Kim and her colleague Katie, they made my little angel an extremely happy boy.

“Today, when Sammy got home from school, this parcel from Aldi was waiting for him, exploding with goodies and those brand spanking new size 11 wellies.”

Alongside the wellies, Aldi had sent toys, sweets and arts and crafts supplies.

They also included a letter, which read: “Dear Sam, your mummy contacted us here at Aldi as she has been desperately trying to find you a shiny new pair of penguin wellies.

“We’ve worked our magic over the past couple of weeks and in this box is a new pair for you in a bigger size along with a few other treats for you to enjoy.

“It would really make us smile if you could send us some pictures of you wearing your new wellies!”

Hannah said Sammy was over the moon when he opened the box, explaining: “I was worried that even with them looking the same, new ones could take some getting used to. But he put them on straight away.”

And other mums on Facebook were mega impressed, with one commenting: “Absolutely LOVE this post… best status EVER!

“Well done Aldi for putting a massive smile back on Sammy’s face!”

An Aldi spokeswoman said: “We are thrilled to have helped bring a smile to Sammy with his specially made wellies.”
