Most popular baby names of 2019 revealed, including Olivia and Atticus


THE most popular baby names of 2019 so far have been revealed, with a rare moniker in the top spot.

Posie, a floral-inspired name, has come out on top for the first quarter of the year – the first time it has ever ranked in the top 1,000 names.

Posie knocked Olivia off the top spot – after it was ranked the most popular choice last year by Nameberry – which now comes in third place.

Also spelled Posy or Posey, it brings together current fashion trends, including names which are inspired by nature, vintage names, as well as nicknames.

Other new entries include Aurora and Maeve, fourth and fifth on the list, which fit into the nature and vintage categories as well.

In the boys camp, Milo has come out on top, despite previously being ranked at 224.

Other names also making the grade are more traditional options, with Atticus a figure in ancient Rome, Theodore from ancient Greece, and Asher a biblical name.

Some classic names are still holding their own, with Charlotte – which has a royal seal of approval – remaining popular.

Jack is another strong name which makes the list, along with Henry and Amelia.

The list reflect the names which are trending in popularity in the US, rather than official statistics.

Nameberry said: “We calculate our popularity list based on which names attracted the most of the 11 million views of our name pages so far this year.”

Mums are now hating their children’s name after celebs picked the same ones for their children. 

Parents have also revealed which popular names they dislike because they’re ‘too common’.

This name certainly isn’t common, after a woman named her daughter Disney.
