Monsta X move on as six-piece as K-pop fans beg Wonho to return

Monsta X have moved on as a six-piece K-pop group, following Wonho’s exit.

The 26-year-old left the group last week, leaving fans devastated after he confirmed the news in a handwritten letter.

And his former bandmates have made their first appearance without him, on The Show.

In fact, not only did Shownu, Minhyuk, Kihyun, Hyungwon, Joohoney and IM smash their stint on the episode, they also won the instalment with song Follow.

According to Soompi, Joohoney referenced Wonho’s departure in their winning speech, thinking Monbebe for sticking by them, and ‘promising to always rise back up after a fall’.

And it looks like fans are still missing Wonho following his exit.

Commenting underneath a photo of the band on The Show, one wrote: ‘Pictures say a thousand words. Monsta X has always and will always be 7. Congratulations on your win.’

Another said: ‘Congratz to 7 of you @OfficialMonstaX The picture is incomplete @STARSHIPXent Protect your artists and bring Wonho back to where he’s belong (sic).’

‘I’m so proud. Thanks for the hard work, it’s hard but they’re still here. Fighting,’ a follower replied. ‘We also fight and we will not rest until they smile again as before, together. Seven souls in 1 in Monsta X.’

While a Twitter user added: ‘WE MADE IT! Monbebe is working for you with everything we have. Congratulations, you deserve this!’

Wonho left Monsta X last week, confirming the heartbreaking news in a handwritten letter for fans.

‘First, I would like to apologise for not being able to keep the promise that I would only provide good memories and for causing pain to fans,’ he began. ‘Furthermore, I apologise for causing concern to many people due to my personal issues.

‘I have received undeserving blessings and love while promoting as a MONSTA X member. I sincerely thank you for making precious memories for me. To the members who worked hard with me and stayed with me, I would like to tell them that I’m thankful and that I love them. [I would also like to show them] my apologetic heart.

‘There was a time when I was immature and have made big and small mistakes, but after becoming a trainee and making my debut, I stayed on track and worked hard to avoid being ashamed of myself.’

He continued: ‘I am announcing that I am leaving MONSTA X today. I am apologetic for causing harm to the members due to the unfortunate issues related to me. More than anything, I am sorry for disappointing my fans, who believed in me.

‘I have reached this decision after seeing may people having a hard time because of me.

‘In addition to our members, I once again sincerely bow my head in apology to the fans who have believed in me and supported me. Please give strength to MONSTA X. The members have nothing to do with me.

‘I carefully ask that you at least give support and encouragement to the members. ‘They are people who are too good to stop and get hurt like this because of someone like me.

‘I am so thankful and apologetic to the staff, members, and lastly our fans who have allowed me to enjoy such happiness until this point.’
