Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury: ‘Can’t fake that’ Love Island co-star speaks out on couple

Molly-Mae Hague’s, 19, feelings for Tommy Fury, 20, have been brought into question during several tense moments on Love Island 2019. The ITV2 show’s Twitter challenge suggested the social media influencer was “playing a game” by coupling up with the boxer, in order to cash in on the £50,000 prize given to the winners. However, former Islander Joanna Chimonides, 22, was quick to quash speculation about whether Molly-Mae is being “genuine” in the romance. Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, Joanna insisted: “Molly-Mae is 1,000 per cent genuine.

“When you see Tommy and Molly together in person, you see how much they get along.

“They’ve got the same banter and they do little childish games together in the pool.”

The star explained she is certain the couple are “great together” after watching them interact in the Majorcan villa.

She added: “I was watching them the whole time and it’s hilarious, you can’t fake that, they are great together.”

Joanna, who was coupled up with Michael Griffiths, 27, on the show also revealed which couples she think will blossom when they depart from the villa, and included Tommy and Molly in her predictions.

She said: “I think Molly-Mae and Tommy and Belle and Anton would 100 per cent work on the outside.

“Molly-Mae responded by mimicking Tommy’s accent, and then Tommy does the same.

“We often parrot people’s words back to them to show that we’re really listening to them, and approve of what they say.”

In spite of this apparent connection, Hayley then went on to point out the “sticking point” in the couple, explaining: “Molly-Mae doesn’t seem as infatuated as Tommy.

“Tommy has attempted to talk about life outside the villa and to romanticise what might be when they get out.

“Molly-Mae has failed to join into this vision of their future, saying she’s looking forward to being able to text again.”

Love Island 2019 continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
