Mohamed Salah's heartwarming kickabout with kids as Liverpool prepare for Super Cup


Liverpool star Mohamed Salah helped give a group of youngsters a night they will never forget after enjoying a kickabout with them ahead of Wednesday night’s UEFA Super Cup in Istanbul.

The Champions League winners are in Turkey to take on Premier League foes and Europa League victors Chelsea in the continental showdown.

The match will take place at Voadfone Park, the home of Turkish Super Lig side Besiktas , and both teams held an open training session at the venue on Tuesday evening.

A group of kids from the UEFA Foundation were also present for the sessions, with Salah spending time with the youngsters before being joined by his Liverpool team-mates.

The Egypt international spent time kicking a ball about with the kids on the pitch before posing for pictures with the group,while boss Jurgen Klopp was happy to sign autographs for those in attendance.

Chelsea stars N’Golo Kante and Marcos Alonso also took the time to enjoy a kickabout with the young group after the Blues held a training session on the pitch in Istanbul.

Those memories will live with the kids for a lifetime, and both Liverpool and Chelsea will aim to create more unforgettable moments of their own tonight.

Both will be looking to claim a first trophy of the season in the hope it could provide a springboard for success this term.

Liverpool already have happy memories of previous trips to Istanbul, most notably their stunning Champions League success in 2005.

“I know about the special importance and what a special place Istanbul is for Liverpool supporters. 2005 – nobody will ever forget that and that is good,” said Klopp.

Frank Lampard, meanwhile, will hope to guide Chelsea to a second Super Cup title after twice missing out as a Blues player.

“It’s a cup that the club desperately wants to win. I’ve never won it, a lot of players in there have never won it, so we have to give it everything,” said the former England international.
