Mohamed Elneny claims Arsenal star Mesut Ozil ‘loves’ Fenerbahce and admits he could see the German joining the Turkish club in the future.

The German flirted with a move to his childhood team in January, but has seemingly settled under new boss Mikel Arteta.

Nevertheless, Ozil has just 18 months left on his current £350,000-a-week deal at the Emirates and Elneny, who is on a season-long loan at Besiktas from the Gunners, thinks Ozil might be tempted to move to Turkey.

The 27-year-old Egyptian told beIN SPORTS Turkey: ‘Mesut really loves Fenerbahce. He’s always speaking about the club and the fans.

‘If you ask me, I think he could come to Fenerbahce. He’s always trying to annoy me by singing Fenerbahce chants.’

Ozil, 31,  has made it clear in the past that it is his dream to play for Fenerbahce, the club he grew up supporting.

Rumours of a mass exodus in the summer for the Gunners have surfaced with Alexander Lacazette, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Ozil facing exits in north London.

But the creative midfielder could yet be convinced to extend his current Gunners contract, which is due to expire in June 2022.

After previously being frozen out by former boss Unai Emery, Ozil has started every league game since Mikel Arteta joined in December.
