Miley Cyrus interviews 'pop culture icons' Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie on Bright Minded

Miley Cyrus returned to Instagram Live on Friday for another episode of her weekly web series Bright Minded, where she hosted one-on-one interviews with ‘pop culture icons’ Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton.

The 27-year-old singer-songwriter voiced to her guests, as well as her 105million followers, that the theme of the day’s show revolved around ‘pop culture’ and ‘businesswomen.’

Cyrus, first, grilled Richie about how her life has changed since entering quarantine, before hurling a queued up list of fan-derived questions Hilton’s way.

After minutes of Miley troubleshooting Nicole’s end of the stream, the jovial pair were finally visible to audiences via a split-screen format.

Before jumping into the day’s discussion, Nicole revealed that she had a ‘special guest’ joining her for the stream. Richie then lowered her camera to her leg to reveal her pet reptile Speedy.

‘Oh,’ gasped Miley. ‘Who is that queen?’

‘That’s Speedy,’ replied Richie. ‘Isn’t he so cute?’

After fawning over their pets for a few moments and promising to set-up a ‘playdate’ for their German Shepherds, Miley commenced the pair’s discussion.

‘I am so happy that you are here’ Miley began. ‘We have been focusing a lot on female businesses at this time, especially local, small businesses.’

‘So, you’re a business woman, you run a house, you run a family, how have you been staying lit in these dark times, [while] continuing to work from home?’

‘Good question,’ replied Richie who explained that her attitude is not always ‘‘bright all the time.’

‘There are waves of emotions, like some days I wake up and I’m like, “Oh, great! Ok! We’re gonna do this! I am gonna work out everyday and the kids are gonna be on a schedule and I am gonna cook and I am gonna clean the house…’

But the 38-year-old reality star admitted that other days she wakes up and she is ‘really scared.’

‘Like, oh my God, what is happening? What is this world? The fear is very heavy.’

Nicole emphasized that the act of quarantining as a result of the coronavirus is different for everyone and is based on personal socioeconomic factors.

‘Quarantine is something different to everybody,’ she concluded.

Miley agreed with Richie and added that the reality of diverse quarantining experiences inspired her to start Bright Minded.

‘Besides the fact that I can’t hang out with my friends or have puppy playdates, nothing much has changed for me. I am not worried about where my next meal comes from. I’m not worried about my business falling apart,’ explained Cyrus.

She added that ‘it is so important’ for people with the means to help to step forward and support ‘local mom and pop businesses.’

‘That’s why I wanted to focus this episode on business women because women have a harder time getting loans from bank, so if their businesses fall apart they can’t rebuild as quickly.’

‘They remind me to check in with myself, to check in with the best parts of yourself, and remind yourself that you have that in you. That is something that’s really nice.’

Nicole noted that the stone Citrine is her personal go-to, before learning that the yellow gem is Cyrus’ November birthstone.

Miley then asked The Simple Life Alum what her ‘most reliable source’ is.

Richie joked that reptile pal Speedy, who was still residing on her thigh, was her ‘most reliable source’ and ‘hides lots of my secrets in his chin.’

All joking aside, Nicole revealed that her mantra in regard to reliability is to ‘always go to the original source.’

‘I love having a raw and respectful conversation, where you can say whatever you want.’

The Hannah Montana star, noting Richie’s infamous early 2000s fashion sense, asked Nicole if her style has changed since entering quarantine.

‘So, I actually two days ago,’ she began. ‘I bring out all my loose comfortable cotton cute clothes and I put them all on a rack…and I have not worn any of those clothes.’

She added: ‘I am still in the sweats.’

In the final moments of the interview, Miley let Nicole offer her advice to mothers who are now forced to homeschool their children due to school closures caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

‘Do you have words of empowerment for women homeschooling their kids right now,’ asked Cyrus.

Nicole suggested that mothers ‘cut themselves some slack’ and to set realistic daily goals.

‘They’re at home, ok? They can eat breakfast at 10,’ she replied playfully.

She also encouraged people to start ‘growing their own food’ and to donate to their local food banks during these hard times.

‘With all these kids out of school, there are now millions of kids left without lunches…find your local food bank and find out what they need and a lot of them need donations,’ she explained.

Richie thanked Miley for using her platform ‘for good,’ before signing off.

Occupation change: ‘Why do you love dogs so much,’ asked Miley, before Paris revealed that she once ‘wanted to be a vet,’ but ‘did not want to deal with the heartbreak of putting animals to sleep or giving them shots'

Paris revealed that she ‘built a little set’ specifically for her appearance on Miley’s series, which included a butterfly-filled backdrop.

Miley jumped right into the questions by directly asking the heiress what exactly is it like being Paris Hilton.

‘I love living my life and having a good time and it makes me happy to bring light and happiness to the world,’ replied Paris before flashing a shy smile to the camera.

She added: ‘We need more positivity and good vibes and that’s how I like spending my life’

Miley then explained to the The Simple Life alum that fans had flooded her social media with questions regarding Paris and that she was going to read a select few.

‘Why do you love dogs so much,’ asked Miley, before Paris revealed that she once ‘wanted to be a vet,’ but ‘did not want to deal with the heartbreak of putting animals to sleep or giving them shots.’

‘Since I was a little girl I was so obsessed with animals,’ said Paris as she picked up her designer dog Baby Bear. ‘This is Baby Bear. I got him from Tokyo.’

Miley took a moment to bring her rescue German Shepherd pup Rainbow back on screen in order to engage in some dog-mom banter with Paris.

The Last Song actress then asked Hilton to nail down her favorite place to travel in the world.

‘I love Tokyo,’ said Paris, but she revealed that Ibiza, Las Vegas and Los Angeles are her favorite places to be.

‘Los Angeles is my favorite city in the world,’ gushed Hilton.

Miley could not help but gush over Los Angeles City Mayor Eric Garcetti. ‘He is so hot,’ she exclaimed and Paris totally agreed.

‘I love him,’ said the reality star before admitting that Garcetti had actually attended her most recent birthday party held at her Los Angeles home. ‘He is such a legend and he is cute.’

Paris then got the opportunity to flaunt her pop music knowledge, when Miley inquired about her ‘favorite pop stars’ that she ‘grew up watching.’

‘You are my favorite, obviously,’ Paris began. ‘I love Britney, Katy Perry, Christina Aguilera, Nicki Minaj…I love all these girls…especially right now with women’s empowerment…such an incredible time in music.’

Talk of music prompted Paris, who is a successful DJ, to express her sadness over festivals like Coachella and Tomorrowland in Belgium being canceled in wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

To close out the duo’s lengthy, but fun-filled chat, Miley asked Paris to share her advice with those who are currently on receiving end of online bullying.

Paris instructed viewers to not ‘pay attention to any of that’ and that ‘anyone saying rude things is just projecting what they feel about themselves.’

‘Don’t give them the time of day,’ she concluded before expressing ‘how amazing it is’ that Miley is ‘bringing everyone together’ through her weekly web show.
