Mike Phelan sends message to Man Utd fans ahead of PSG clash

Manchester United assistant boss Mike Phelan is eyeing another memorable Champions League comeback in Paris.

United trail the French champions 2-0 from the first leg at Old Trafford and face an uphill battle to qualify for the quarter-finals.

Solskjaer is without as many as 10 first-team players for the encounter with the likes of Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial all missing.

The Norwegian has had to turn to United’s youngsters to make up his squad but the Red Devils will be targeting an upset.

Phelan sent a message to United supporters on Tuesday night as United trained in Paris.

“I seem to remember this great football club Manchester United coming from behind before,” Phelan tweeted.

“Final training session .. bring it on.”

Unsurprisingly, United fans loved the post as they reflected on some great Champions League comebacks.

Phelan joined United in the same year before stepping up as first-team coach in 2001. He was later made assistant boss shortly after the 2008 final victory over Chelsea .

On United’s approach to the clash, Solskjaer said: “It’s never mission impossible,” said Solskjaer. “It’s more difficult, but we’ve got to get the first goal and then anything can happen.

“Suddenly, goals always change games and if we get the first one we’ll be believing even more and they might start doubting themselves, but it’s important we get the first one.

“You can say that [there’s no pressure on United] because we’re 2-0 down, but we’ll never approach any game as a lost cause.”
