Men are putting toothpaste on their penises to last longer in bed – DON’T, docs warn

FROM the dawn of time, men have worried about how long they can last in bed.

And they’ve tried all sorts of methods to make themselves better lovers – including putting pearls in their penises and investing in heavy-duty condoms.

Rubbing toothpaste on your penis won't make you last longer in bed, it'll just make it a lot more sore and potentially dysfunctional

But a worrying DIY trend has kicked off online, which experts are warning could lead to severely damaging your pecker and causing painful burns down below.

Men have been rubbing toothpaste on their todgers in a bid to become a dynamo between the sheets.

It comes after a series of YouTube videos and Reddit posts claimed the bizarre new method can work wonders.

In particular, one YouTube post, uploaded by user Jose Barber, claims it will “crush premature ejaculation and erectile dysfunction without dangerous drugs – and you’ll last for 30 minutes longer”.

By putting tooth paste on your genitals you actually risk a mild burn, as well as blisters and scarring

However, experts, including UK consultant pharmacist James O’Loan, have now urged men not to rub toothpaste down below – as it could cause more harm than good.

James,  pharmacist at online doctor service Doctor-4-U, said: “I’d urge anyone thinking of trying this rather worrying ‘toothpaste’ technique to cease and desist – because it won’t do anything at all to combat premature ejaculation or erectile dysfunction, despite the claims being made in these videos.

“The peppermint oils and other chemicals in toothpaste, including bleaching agents, can be extremely irritating to sensitive skin.

“By putting it on your genitals you actually risk a mild burn, as well as blisters and scarring.

“And toothpaste should in no way be used as a lubricant, either.”

Extremely irritating

The YouTube video claims that toothpaste should be applied to tip of the penis before having sex -plugging it as an ‘affordable’ alternative to premature ejaculation or erectile dysfunction medications.

It adds: “You will have a sense of pride. Do you finish too fast?

“Follow my simple suggestions for curing premature ejaculation and you’ll last for 30 minutes or longer by the end of the week!”

A similar online clip, uploaded by DHC Daily Health Care and viewed 65,000 times, makes similar claims.

But not everyone is convinced, with one YouTube user joking: “I tried this, now my penis has a bright smile…” while another added, “This is all BS. Who wrote this garbage?”

Increase blood flow

Consultant James has instead recommended that those who are suffering with premature ejaculation or erectile dysfunction invest in Viagra or a spray called Fortacin.

He added: “Most people have heard of the drug sildenafil, often sold as the brand Viagra, which increases blood flow to the penis and helps maintain an erection.

“But for premature ejaculation there’s also a drug that’s not as well known, and which helps combat premature ejaculation – which is called Fortacin.

“It’s an easy to use spray which contains the local anaesthetics lidocaine and prilocaine, and which is designed to decrease sensitivity in the penis.

“It was only approved for use in Europe in November 2016, but since we began offering it via prescriptions in March 2017, it’s proven extremely popular.”

It’s not the first time men have tried putting foreign objects on or in their penises in a bid to become better lovers.

Just recently, it was revealed that men have been cutting open their penises and inserting pearls inside them – as it is believed to create an orgasmic experience in the bedroom.

How to protect your penis from shrinking with age

Your penis can actually shrink as the years pass by.

Thankfully there are a few things you can do to try to halt the ravages of time down below:

1. Have more sex and masturbate more

Harvard Medical School experts say you’ve got to “use it or lose it”.

“Some research suggests that when the penis is flaccid for long periods of time — and therefore deprived of a lot of oxygen-rich blood — the low oxygen level causes some muscle cells to lose their flexibility and gradually change into something akin to scar tissue,” their report said.

2. Quit smoking

Smoking is responsible for a tonne of diseases and conditions. Cancer aside, it can also be responsible for shrinking your penis.

The chemicals from cig smoke can damage the blood vessels in the penis – stopping it from filling with blood.

3. Brush your teeth

Blokes who fail to brush their teeth twice a day are more likely to be a flop in bed, a recent study revealed.

Scientists from Jinan University, in China, analysed the teeth and sexual performance of 213,076 men.

They found guys with gum disease were 2.85-times more likely to suffer erectile dysfunction.

4. Keep cool

It’s not just your todger that gets small with age; after 40, your testicles also start to shrink.

To slow their decline, try keeping them cool.

Wear boxers rather than briefs so you’re getting more air up there and avoid very tight trousers which may restrict blood flow.

5. Lose weight

A bulging waist-line won’t just put you more at risk of heart problems, diabetescancer and fatty liver disease.

Carrying extra padding can make your todger look smaller.

The penis is attached to the belly wall and when it expands, it pulls the penis inwards.

Lose weight and it’ll drop back down. Now there’s a weight loss incentive if ever we heard one.

During raunchy encounters, it’s believed that the bump works to stimulate the clitoris, improving pleasure for women.

The gruesome procedure involves cutting open a bloke’s manhood, placing the pearl inside, stitching it up and allowing it to heal for five to six days.

Despite being known as pearls, the genital beads are actually mostly made from Teflon, silicone, surgical steel or titanium.

Doctors have warned that the intimate procedure could be risky business, as patients may contract tetanus, balanitis or gangrene.

Similarly, earlier this year, men were warned against “jelqing” – which involves “milking” a semi-erect penis for a set amount of time per day.

That then is supposed to create small tears in the penile issue (ouch!) – forcing new cells to grow and create a small increase in size.

By continually pulling on your member, you’re apparently enlarging the blood chambers and creating more blood flow, which leads to a bigger erection.

There’s very little research on the benefits of jelqing, with experts warning that it could actually have a detrimental impact on your penis.

Continually stretching can cause injury to the chambers in the penis that fill with blood when you get an erection, as well as putting you at risk from Peyronie’s disease.
