On Monday 15th February, news revealed that Harry and Meghan were to be interviewed by Oprah Winfrey, the couple’s first televised interview since ITV’s Harry & Meghan: An African Adventure and since they stepped down as senior royals and moved to the US.
So, what can we expect from Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Oprah interview and when can we watch it in the UK? Here’s the lowdown…
When is Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Oprah interview?
Harry and Meghan’s interview with Oprah is set to take place in a two-part primetime special on US TV network CBS, airing on Sunday 7th March.
The interview, called Oprah with Meghan and Harry, will be a 90-minute episode of long-running news programme 60 Minutes and will be produced by Oprah’s own production company. It’s thought that filming has already taken place.
How can I watch Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Oprah interview?
In the US, the programme will air on CBS from 8pm Eastern Time (around 1am on 8th March for the UK). However, as most of us don’t have CBS, it’s still unclear how UK audiences will be able to watch. CBS has said that it will be released for global distribution.
Most of the previous 60 Minutes interviews have soon been uploaded on the show’s YouTube channel, so it’s worth keeping an eye out.
What will Oprah with Meghan and Harry cover?
While we haven’t been given exact details on what the interview will cover, CBS has said it is “wide-ranging” and called it an “intimate conversation.” In a statement, CBS said Oprah with Meghan and Harry will include “everything from stepping into life as a royal, marriage, motherhood, philanthropic work to how [Meghan] is handling life under intense public pressure.”
The statement continues, “Later, the two are joined by Prince Harry as they speak about their move to the United States and their future hopes and dreams for their expanding family.”
It’s also expected that the interview will address Meghan’s tragic miscarriage, which she described last year as an “unbearable grief.”
Is there a trailer for Oprah with Meghan and Harry?
No trailer has been released of the interview yet – but we expect more details to be leaked by early March in the run-up to it airing on CBS.
