McDonald’s Christmas advert 2019 follows the heartwarming animated tale of adorable Ellie and Archie the reindeer

MCDONALD’S Christmas advert follows adorable little girl Ellie as she befriends a lovable reindeer called Archie.

The animated ad opens with Ellie asking her older sister Jenny if she wants to play with her, but Jenny slams the door in her face, telling her to “grow up”.

Upset Ellie goes outside to sit in the garden alone – but then a miniature reindeer appears and the pair spend Christmas Eve playing together.

Big sister Jenny sees how happy Archie the reindeer is making Ellie, and looks on smiling at the pair playing.

Ellie and Archie even sneak some “reindeer treats” from the fridge to munch together, but eat so many they quickly run out.

So, Ellie and her dad head out to collect some more – but as they do big sister Jenny has a change of heart and decides to go with them and spend time with her family.

As the family arrives at the McDonald’s Drive Thru the scene switches from animation to real life, and we discover that Archie is actually Ellie’s dog dressed up in a tutu and reindeer antlers.

The advert ends with the slogan: “Are you #ReindeerReady?”

It celebrates the fact that McDonald’s will be giving away free carrot stick bags, which they’ve renamed “reindeer treats”, on Christmas Eve this year.

Ben Fox, marketing director  at McDonald’s UK and Ireland said: “We’re proud of the role we play in getting the nation Reindeer Ready each Christmas and this year is no exception.

“We’re celebrating the magic of Christmas through the eyes of Ellie, an imaginative little girl, in an advert which illustrates scenes recognised by parents across the country, as the whole family comes together to get reindeer ready.

“We hope the public enjoy Ellie and Archie’s adventure as much as we do.”

The ad will fist air on TV on Sunday evening (November 17) during ITV’s I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.

It follows on from last year’s McDonald’s Christmas advert, which was also about getting the nation “reindeer ready” before Christmas.

The 2018 ad saw Santa’s reindeer upset that families hadn’t left them out carrots for Christmas.

Luckily, Santa spotted a nearby McDonald’s and stopped into the drive thru to get all his reindeer a well earned treat.

John Lewis’ much-anticipated Christmas advert has also dropped, but some think Asda and Ikea’s adverts are better.

The Sun has rounded up all the best Christmas adverts so far from John Lewis, Sainsbury’s, Aldi and more.

Smyths Toys’ Christmas advert has left some parents blushing after they reckon it contains naughty words.
