Maura Higgins hints at reunion with Strictly's Giovanni after snap of two champagne glasses

Maura Higgins has sent fans into a frenzy after sharing a snap of two champagne glasses on social media.

The Irish beauty, 30, and Strictly star Giovanni Pernice, 31, split earlier this week and the Love Island star wiped all images of the pair from her Instagram.

It’s thought that Giovanni called time on the romance as he wasn’t keen on the idea of settling down.

But the rumour mill was up and running once again after she added a snap from her London hotel of a champagne bottle and two glasses.

Maura showed off the glamorous central London hotel to her 3.3 million followers by uploading videos and snaps to her Instagram Stories.

And while she kept her guest anonymous, it got tongues wagging that it could be dancer.

Posting a snap from her room overlooking the London Eye, she wrote: “Back in my favourite hotel.”

She was said to be “devastated” after her split from Giovanni, with an insider claiming that his work commitments drove a wedge between them.

“It’s all over for now. Maura’s absolutely devastated, it appears the Strictly curse has struck again,” a source told The Sun.

“Pals are hoping that they can patch things up. But only time will tell whether Giovanni’s got the time.

“He’s been working 24/7 on the show practising with celeb partner Rose, and they’ve become really good friends. He’s even been learning sign language, showing it off on social media.”

Another source said that Maura had been unable to handle the bond that was forming between Giovanni and Rose Ayling-Ellis.

They told OK! Magazine: “Strictly is such hard work and all your time is taken up with the show, so Maura wasn’t given much of his time. Sadly, the writing was written on the wall.

“Giovanni wants to win the show. He’s got such an amazing bond with Rose and Maura couldn’t handle it.”

It remains to be seen whether the pair will give it another go, with Maura now tipped to try her arm at I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here.

Fans and bookmakers are tipping the star to be one of the celebrity contestants on the next series of the ITV show.

Jessica O’Reilly of Ladbrokes said: “With her ex-Giovanni making all the headlines on Strictly, a stint on I’m A Celebrity would be the perfect opportunity for Maura to create her own.”
