Matthew Wolfenden: Emmerdale's David Metcalfe actor reveals baby prediction

Matthew Wolfenden, 38, made the prediction about his third baby with Charley Webb, 30, after the pair decided they would not be finding out about the sex ahead of the birth. The actor, who is best known for his role as David Metcalfe in ITV’s Emmerdale, admitted he was almost certain they would be having another boy. Matthew spoke about his theory during an interview with his wife Charley, who plays Debbie Dingle in the soap, for OK! Magazine. Charley and Matthew will be adding to their expanding family, bringing a younger sibling into the world to join their two children, Buster, eight, and Bowie, three.

The actress initiated the topic as she explained why the couple were avoiding finding out about the sex of their baby, sharing that they wanted it to be a surprise for their sons.

She said: “Buster was so desperate for Bowie to be a boy and he was, so it would be nice to have that same thing for Bowie – but it doesn’t matter to me at all,

“I’m used to boys and I always thought I’d have thee boys and a girl, in that order. That’s my instinct but who knows!”

Matthew agreed with his other half as he added: “I can only picture boys and the scan picture looks very much like Buster did.”

As the two are unsure about the baby’s gender, they have been less keen to talk about potential names during this pregnancy

Matthew divulged: “With the other two we used to sit at night and look at baby names on our phones but we haven’t done that this time.”

However, the soap star also admitted: “I do have a couple of names that I really love.”

Although Matthew and Charley are determined to keep their baby’s gender reveal a secret, they have been met with pressure from Buster and Bowie, who are excited to find out if they will be having a brother or a sister.

Discussing her sons’ wishes, Charley said: “Bowie kisses my stomach every morning and he talks to my bump all the time. He’s desperate for a little brother

“We’ve got it again now, the pressure of what sex it’s going to be as Bowie wants a brother and Buster wants a sister!”

The couple, who got married last year, first revealed their exciting baby news with fans on Instagram.

Charley shared a sweet image of her family to her 262,000 followers, which showed her eldest child Buster holding up a sign which read: “Buster, Bowie and…”

Elsewhere, Matthew paid tribute to Charley in a never-before-seen snap from their wedding.

The photo showed the pair showing off their moves on the dance floor at the reception, holding hands as they beamed in delight.

The soap favourite posted the picture to his 147,000 followers alongside an adorable caption.

He wrote: “1 Year ago today, I married my best mate. This is us doing the Hokey Cokey!”

Emmerdale continues tonight at 7pm on ITV.
