Matt Baker: Countryfile host in unlikely 'battle' with Jack Whitehall and Jamie Redknapp

TV presenter Matt Baker took part in a stay at home burger battle online last night.

The Countryfile star created the burger of all burgers when he cooked along with A League of Their Own co-stars Jack Whitehall and Jamie Redknapp.

Matt’s epic burger impressed the pair, who were cooking up a storm in their own kitchens, while competing against each other via an Instagram Live stream.

The BBC star, who presented The Big Night In on TV last week, shared a picture of his creation on Instagram yesterday in aid of charity.

The social media snap showed a humongous burger filled with at least two burger patties, bacon and tomatoes as well as avocado, onions and jalapeno peppers.

Alongside the picture, which was shared with his 191,000 followers, he wrote: “Love cooking along with @jackwhitehall @jamie.redknapp” #stayathomeburgerbattle.”

On seeing Matt’s handiwork, former footballer Jamie exclaimed: “That’s a winner.”

Meanwhile actor and comedian Jack said: “Wow this is amazing @mattbakerofficial.”

The burger competition is raising funds for the food for London appeal in association with the Felix project, which redistributes surplus food to frontline charities.

To take part, people need to donate £5 or more to the charity and post a picture of their creation online with the hashtag #stayathomeburgerbattle.

Jamie, 46, and Jack, 31, appeared on the live stream of Instagram account FoodSlut last night which also contains more details about the online competition.

According to a post from the account, which has 50,900 followers, Jamie made Mozzarella juicy lucy patty with pulled brisket, mac and cheese, frazzles and cheddar cheese.

While Jack made Smash patty’s American cheese with maple bacon, deep fried bacon and bacon jam baconnaise.

Sharing a video clip of his own creation, Jack told his 2.3 million Instagram followers: “The bacon jam is a game changer.”
