The Bachelor’s Matt Agnew has responded to a recent trailer featuring contestant Abbie Chatfield that went viral for all the wrong reasons.

In the promo, which has been viewed more than eight million times on Twitter, 23-year-old Abbie seemingly confused astrophysics for astrology.

Speaking to Nova 96.9’s Fitzy & Wippa on Tuesday, the Melbourne-based suitor, 32, insisted that the footage had been taken out of context.

‘She is very clever, very witty and she loves to wind me up and that’s something very evident there with the joke she landed with the Gemini call,’ he said.

‘I think some of the public opinion of that particular interaction has been taken out of context,’ Matt admitted.

Matt claimed the seemingly-awkward moment was a joke, adding that he loves a person who enjoys engaging in banter.
