Matches Fashion have dropped a party edit and it’s every modern bride’s dream

Congrats! You’re engaged. But what the hell next? Well – once your venue is sorted and your bridal party chosen, selecting a wedding dress is probably a good place to start.

That said, traipsing around bridal boutiques can be a bit of a minefield. Said boutiques are often missing unique, trend-led pieces which the modern bride would actually want to wear. And if your wedding extends to a two or three-day celebration (as many do, these days), it can be a struggle to find a plethora of outfits to suit. Where are the wedding jumpsuits and the bridal separates at???

Luckily for all you brides-to-be, matchesfashion.com has come to the rescue just in time for your big day. Well, the brand’s fashion and buying director Natalie Kingham has, to be exact. She wanted the modern bride to be able to shop pieces which weren’t exactly traditional, but that appealed to her love of fashion and that could be worn again after the wedding. In short, she wanted to create a bridal fashion collection where the emphasis is on fashion.

With that in mind, she worked to create “The Wedding Edit”: a capsule collection of all-white bespoke pieces commissioned from Kingham’s favourite designers. It transpires that the modern bride is now after feathers, puffed-tulle sleeves, crystal-embellished satin and silhouettes with serious structure. And we’re here for it. Oh, and it’s also worth mentioning that most of these pieces actually work out cheaper than the dresses found in traditional designer bridal boutiques, do, so are worth some serious consideration.

If you’re not getting married anytime soon (if at all), this collection is still for you. White evening wear is a huge trend for 2020, with a preference for white over black at black tie events becoming rife. An ultra-feminine, polished white pieces is sometimes exactly what’s needed.

Speaking of the site’s new edit, Natalie Kingham, Fashion Buying Director said: “We have noticed an increase in sales across our eveningwear and modern tailoring categories, particularly in monochrome tones. We wanted to create a dedicated area where our clients can find unique pieces for their wedding and special events that can be worn again and again for many years to come.”

As the fashion industry bids to become more sustainable, we kinda urge you to invest in one of these insane pieces, which can not only be worn on your wedding day but to, like, event every event after. Then passed down the generations.

From wedding dresses to bridal separates and wedding shoes to bridal jewellery, there is so much to drool over. Go on, have a little scroll.
