Mary Berry unleashed her mischievous side on Best Home Cook when she was joined by Tom Kerridge.
Tom had stepped in for Angela Hartnett as a guest judge as the chef wasn’t able to join them on the show for a couple of days.
He fit right in alongside Mary, Chris Bavin and host Claudia Winkleman with the foursome make playful digs and making each other laugh.
In Thursday night’s episode they were tasked with whipping up a dish that had to make sweet potato the star of the show.
Robin, 63, decided to whip up a sweet potato quiche along with a yoghurt dip on the side that was mixed with harissa paste.
Tom decided to tuck into this while Mary was giving her feedback, but came to regret it as the heat from the fiery harissa hit him.
In a choked voice he said to Mary: ‘Don’t have that. It’s a bit much,’ and had to be given a glass of water by Claudia.
Later when they went to decide who would have to cook a second time, it wasn’t good news for Robin.
‘I haven’t seen green vegetables cooked that so far off the mark in a long time. He almost nailed that pastry,’ Tom said.
Referring to the dip, Mary added: ‘Then he just did some creme fraiche.’
Tom added: ‘With way too much harissa paste in it, it nearly blew me ears off.’
‘Well it certainly blew your hair off,’ Mary quipped.
Laughing, Tom replied: ‘Very true.’
After deciding not to send anyone home last week, this week it was a double elimination.
Mary, Chris and Tom decided to send home Robin and Katie, and the pair said goodbye to the competition.
Best Home Cook airs Thursdays at 8pm on BBC One.
