But you don’t need to constantly wash your covers or scrub at stains anymore, after M&S came up with a material which is simple and easy to clean.

Called Aquaclean technology, the revolutionary fabric allows stains to be removed using only water, without the need for harsh chemicals or scrubbing.

Most everyday stains, including mud, chocolate, ink, sauce, fat and even wine, can be removed by just adding water.

Announcing the launch, M&S said: “We know how difficult it is to keep the fabrics of a house perfect just like the first day you bought them… and thanks to a revolutionary new technology, it is now possible!”

“Aquaclean helps to remove most household stains (wine, ink, sauce, fat, mud, chocolate, cream, etc.) making life easier and giving you more time for the more important things!”

So even if it’s you making a mess by spilling some wine, now no one will ever know.
