Man Utd transfer news: Dybala, Sancho, De Gea, Oblak, Saul, Longstaff, James

Dybala discussions

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been “holding talks” with Juventus forward Paulo Dybala for at least a month.

The Sun reports that the United gaffer is “desperate” to beef up his frontline in the summer.

The 25-year-old Argentine has been linked to Old Trafford in the past but Italian outlet Tuttosport claims that since the end of April United have been “pressing” Juventus to sell their South American star.

Apparently the Italian champions are, like United, going to shake up their squad in the summer and they are ready to listen to offers for Dybala.

Solskjaer, for his part, is resigned to shipping out Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku in the coming weeks so a move for the Juventus frontman makes sense.

Asked about Dybala’s future, his agent (and brother), Gustavo, told Argentine radio: “There is a good chance he’ll leave… he needs a change.”

No to Sancho

United have reluctantly pulled the plug on their attempt to land Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho.

ESPN says that the 19-year-old is still very much on Solskjaer’s mind but despite his best efforts, he has been “unable to engage Dortmund in constructive discussions about a deal for the teenager”.

The 19-year-old England star is Dortmund’s crown jewel and ESPN says that after offloading Christian Pulisic to Chelsea they have no intention of selling Sancho despite rumours that United could be ready to offer around £70m.

Consequently United have drawn up a shortlist of alternatives and top of the pile are Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez and Swansea City winger Daniel James. However, The Sun reports that United’s pursuit of £20m-rated Welshman James has been suspended following the sudden death of his father.

Longstaff link

The Daily Star singles out Newcastle midfielder Sean Longstaff as the man that United are targeting.

The paper even goes so far to claim that the Red Devils are “set to make a formal approach” before the month is out. Magpies boss Rafa Benitez “is reluctant to sell” Longstaff but the Star says that if United table a bid of around £20m they’ll find that money talks.

Going for a gloveman

The Daily Mirror says that Solskjaer has also been identifying possible replacements for David de Gea in the event the Spanish keeper quits Old Trafford.

Speculation is growing that he could be lured to either Paris Saint-Germain or Real Madrid, and so United are mulling over a move for Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak or Barcelona’s Jasper Cillessen.
