Man Utd told to sell Paul Pogba to Real Madrid – but only on one condition

That’s the opinion of ESPN reporter Ian Darke.

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has been tipped to leave this summer amid heavy interest from Real Madrid.

The French midfielder emerged as a transfer target for Zinedine Zidane earlier in the transfer window, and it was hinted that Pogba would be open to a move.

United reportedly slapped a £150million price tag on his head, having broken the world transfer record to buy him for £89m back in 2016.

With Madrid having spent £275m so far this window, and the potential of more to come if they are able to secure the signature of Neymar, it seemed unlikely that they would be able to prize him away from Old Trafford.

However, Pogba hinted again on Sunday that he would be open to a potential move, as he said the question mark remains.

But Darke explained on ESPN FC that he believed the club needs to tell Pogba and Madrid that they will not authorise a deal this summer.

“I don’t think they can [sell him] really,” he said.

“They didn’t replace Ander Herrera, which remains a bit of a mystery to me.

“I think they should have broken the bank to get Bruno Fernandes.

“He’s a fantastic player in Portugal, and he never got a move anywhere.

“He’s exactly the kind of player Manchester United needed.

“I don’t think they can let him go unless they receive a ‘through the roof’ offer from Real Madrid that is just too good for them to refuse, considering how much they paid to sign him.

“I don’t think that will happen now because United can’t replace him.

“Look who was alongside him yesterday [Sunday], [Scott] McTomminay and [Andreas] Pereira. That cupboard is looking very thin without Pogba.”
