Man Utd 'on alert' as Bournemouth plot sales of Callum Wilson and David Brooks

Manchester United have been put on a transfer alert as Bournemouth reportedly plan to sell Callum Wilson, Josh King and David Brooks this summer.

United have previously been linked with moves for attacking midfielder Brooks and strikers Wilson and King.

But Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side could face competition from Tottenham if they decide to swoop for either one of the Cherries trio.

And Bournemouth are braced for a bidding war, as all three could all be sold this summer to raise cash for boss Eddie Howe to spend on new players, according to The Sun.

Wales international Brooks has been on United’s radar for some time, having scored seven goals and added five assists during his breakthrough 2018/19 season.

David Brooks would have to prove his fitness to secure a summer move as he is yet to play this season due to an ankle injury

The 22-year-old fits United’s preferred transfer profile of a young, homegrown talent who can be developed by Solskjaer – however, he has missed the whole of the current season so far with a serious ankle injury.

But if he can regain his fitness, United will surely rekindle their interest – as will Spurs.

Strikers Wilson and King are both six years older than Brooks, but were both linked with interest from United in the January transfer window.

United reportedly made Bournemouth an offer for Josh King on the final day of the January transfer window

United’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward reportedly contacted Bournemouth on transfer deadline day and gave the Cherries a 15-minute deadline to accept an offer former Old Trafford trainee King, according to The Athletic.

The Red Devils needed a striker, with Marcus Rashford having been sidelined after suffering a back injury in their FA Cup win over Wolves.

United were also reportedly monitoring Wilson as they looked to bring in extra firepower, having struggled for goals in the first half of the season.

However, they ended up signing Nigeria striker Odion Ighalo on loan for the rest of the season from Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua.

It remains to be seen whether Ighalo’s loan will be made permanent, but King and Wilson will options should United decide they do need to add to their attacking options.
