Lionel Messi fuming
Lionel Messi feels his final years in the game are being wasted at Barcelona, according to a stunning report. And that will surely alert Manchester City, who would love to sign the Argentina international when the transfer window reopens at the end of the campaign.
Messi has become embroiled in a spat with Barcelona sporting director Eric Abidal, taking issue with comments made by the Frenchman.
And the Guardian say that Messi feels his final few years at Barcelona are being wasted.
Should they fail to win the Champions League this season, it will mark five years since their last European triumph.
Paul Pogba injury boost
Paul Pogba could return for Manchester United’s clash against Chelsea later this month.
The France international hasn’t played under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer since December, with Pogba undergoing surgery last month.
And Premier Injuries say Pogba could return against Chelsea on February 17.
Speaking recently about his side’s injuries, Solskjaer said: ”It’s hard to put timescales on long-term injuries, because they also need the training before they’re injury free and they need to be match fit, or fitter, to be able to play.
“Paul has had his cast off and Scott’s took his braces off, so at least now they can start doing work on the grass soon.”
Ed Woodward identifies transfer priority
Jack Grealish has emerged as Manchester United’s priority ahead of the summer transfer window. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is determined to sign a playmaker and the Aston Villa captain is top of their wishlist, reports have claimed.
The 24-year-old is attracting interest from a host of top clubs, as he bids to make Gareth Southgate’s England squad ahead of the European Championships.
Grealish has seven Premier League goals to his name this season and is at the heart of Villa’s survival bid in their first season back in the top-flight.
According to The Sun, Manchester United are now prioritising the signing of Grealish over James Maddison.
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard wants to bring Moussa Dembele to Stamford Bridge in the summer but will have to beat Manchester United to the striker’s signature.
Lampard was free to make signings in the January transfer window after a FIFA-imposed transfer embargo was halved, but did not bolster his squad with any new faces.
Dembele is one of the players Express Sport understands was on the manager’s radar in January, the 41-year-old coach also keen on Ben Chilwell, Timo Werner and Jadon Sancho.
But the Daily Mirror report that it is Dembele who Lampard will pursue to offer competition to Tammy Abraham up top.
Lionel Messi plan
Manchester United are considering a summer move for Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi.
The Argentina international has been tipped to leave the Nou Camp at the end of the season after his public spat with Barcelona chief Eric Abidal.
And Gazetta dello Sport say United, Manchester City, PSG, Juventus and Inter Milan are considering moving for Messi in the summer.
It’s claimed Messi can leave on a free transfer in June due to a clause in his contract.
