Man Utd injury news: Are Pogba and De Gea out of Liverpool game, and will Martial be fit to play?

MANCHESTER UNITED face their toughest test of the season as they welcome unbeaten Premier League leaders Liverpool to Old Trafford.

The Red Devils have endured a difficult run of results that leaves them in 12th – but the international break has not been kind to them.

Will Pogba and De Gea miss Man Utd vs Liverpool?

The big news this week was David de Gea being replaced by Chelsea’s Kepa Arrizabalaga in Spain’s draw against Sweden.

The United goalkeeper hobbled off the 60th minute in Stockholm – and could now be out for two months.

That will see Sergio Romero take his place between the sticks against Liverpool, while 36-year-old Lee Grant makes the bench for the first time in the Premier League this season.

Yet, it only gets worse for United fans as Paul Pogba was also ruled out of Sunday’s match.

The Frenchman has been struggling with an ankle problem – and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes he returned to action too soon.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the Norwegian said: “Paul had an injury, he came back, he worked really hard.

“He came back and played a couple of games, maybe played through the pain barrier.

“He had a scan after the Arsenal game and maybe needed a few weeks’ rest in a boot so hopefully he won’t be too long, but he won’t make this game, no.”

Who else is injured?

There are few names on the injury list for Man United as they try to struggle through a crisis.

They have been largely hit in defence, with Eric Bailly expected to play no further part in 2020, while Phil Jones remains sidelined.

Diogo Dalot is also an injury doubt, along with Jesse Lingard and Mason Greenwood.

Luke Shaw has been back in training but is still expected to sit out the Old Trafford clash – yet there is some good news around the corner.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka is in contention to return to action, having not played since the Carabao Cup win over Rochdale last month.

Anthony Martial could also be back to face Liverpool, as Solskjaer continues to struggle with a depleted squad.
