Man Utd fearful of what Alexis Sanchez will do should Inter Milan transfer happen

Manchester United are reportedly fearful Alexis Sanchez will leave the club looking red-faced should he seal a transfer to Serie A giants Inter Milan.

Speaking on Friday, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed the Chile international could leave before the European transfer window shuts on September 2 by saying: “There are still talks with some clubs.

“He’s working hard and let’s see in September what’s going to happen.”

And while United are open to letting Sanchez go, Italian newspaper Corriere Dello Sport claim the Red Devils have their concerns.

They are said to be concerned that Sanchez could rediscover his mojo at Inter.

And should his form improve that would leave the Red Devils looking red-faced, something they are eager not to happen.

United are said to have similar concerns over Romelu Lukaku.

Lukaku left Old Trafford for Inter on transfer deadline day and is aiming to fire his new club to the Serie A title.

United could sign a free agent to replace Sanchez in their attack.

Any departure for the 30-year-old will leave Solskjaer’s side a little short going forward, with just Anthony Martial, Mason Greenwood, Daniel James and Marcus Rashford to call upon.

Tahith Chong and Angel Gomes are potential internal replacements too but neither star is yet to feature so far this season.

Meanwhile, former Arsenal and United striker Robin van Persie was recently asked about Sanchez’s struggles at the club.

And he expressed a belief that the 30-year-old had to do more to turn his faltering career around.

“He doesn’t look very happy to me,” said Van Persie.

“He looked happy at Arsenal. He doesn’t look happy now.

“What I’ve seen and felt over the years is that how you feel mentally, how your life is, has a big influence.

“If you’re happy, you’re 50 per cent fitter, you create more and you enjoy yourself.

“So he should find a way mentally to change that.”
