Man Utd backed to sign these TWO England stars – ‘Solskjaer has got to start building'

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has promised Manchester United supporters there will be signings this summer.

Solskjaer was appointed as the permanent United manager on Thursday, penning a three-year deal.

Former Arsenal striker Paul Mariner, who works as a pundit for ESPN FC, was asked about potential summer signings for United.

And he reckons a move for Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho would be a fine piece of business.

“He’s been fantastic,” Mariner said of Sancho.

“[Gareth] Southgate has given him a chance.

“Sancho, the only question mark I had was when they played Tottenham. [Mauricio] Pochettino just made a little adjustment and he sort of went missing.

“But there’s no doubt, no doubt, that when you see the way that he plays for England, under such tremendous pressure.

“Sancho to United? I like it, I think Manchester United will do very, very well to get this guy.”

Another recent England debutant is West Ham midfielder Declan Rice.

Rice made his full debut in the 5-1 Euro 2020 Qualifier win over Montenegro on Monday.

And Mariner can see the 20-year-old following Sancho to Old Trafford at the end of the season.

“Yeah, he does [join Sancho],” Mariner continued.

“Let me tell you why. Solskjaer has got to start building for the future.

“Declan Rice and Sancho, he can be there 10 years, he can be there eight years.

“A young kid, yes he’s just learned his trade but everybody recognises he’s good in both boxes.

“He protects fairly well, he’s got to learn his trade a little bit, Rice.

“I like him, seems like a great character, and been playing in the Premier League, plays for England.

“Would he go to United? Absolutely. Purely and simply because I think that [Nemanja] Matic is just, just on his limit a little bit.”
