Pep Guardiola does need to sign a new striker after losing Sergio Aguero on a free transfer to Barcelona.
The Sky Blues are expected to splash plenty of cash in the forward area, but his first expected signing is not a striker.
Meanwhile, Guardiola is also reportedly planning for a mass exodus of his squad, with some unhappy at being left on the sidelines during the highly successful season last term.
Mirror Football brings you the latest transfer news from Manchester City.
Guardiola to sanction 7 player exits
City boss Guardiola has reportedly told Barcelona president Joan Laporta that he is willing to allow seven players to leave this summer.
That’s according to Barcelona-based journalist Gerard Romero, who hints at the possibility of a summer clear out at the Etihad.
Many clubs, including Barcelona, are not able to fork out the same amounts they were in the past due to the pandemic, so City may have to accept some cut prices for those players.

It is not clear who those seven players are at this time.
First summer signing nears
City are set to announce former England goalkeeper Scott Carson as their first signing of the summer.
The veteran stopper has been released by Derby, having spent the last two years on loan at the Etihad Stadium.
And he is set to become a permanent addition to Guardiola’s outfit, with the Spaniard a huge fan of the influence he has had on Ederson and Zack Steffen.
“Maybe people don’t know it but he’s a real leader for us,” said Guardiola.
“He says straight away what he believes, he has a lot of experience, he has been in incredible locker rooms with big teams. “He is an incredible person and we are delighted – not just me but Eddy (Ederson) and Zack [Steffen] and the players that today he could play.”
Laporte pushing for Barcelona move
Aymeric Laporte is reportedly pushing for a move to Barcelona this summer after falling down the pecking order at City.
Due to the fine performances of John Stones and Ruben Dias last season, Laporte made just 14 Premier League starts, while the addition of Nathan Ake has furthered competition for places at centre-back.
Spanish outlet Sport claim that Laporte has his sights set on a switch to Barca, despite their financial difficulties.
Therefore, the Spain international is hoping that City and Barcelona can reach some kind of swap agreement.
