MAFS: Hayley Vernon leaves Nine furious by spoiling Sunday's episode

How Married At First Sight’s Hayley Vernon defied Channel Nine by showing up to a radio interview EARLY and spoiling Sunday’s episode before publicists had a chance to stop her

Hayley Vernon gave Channel Nine’s publicity department the runaround on Thursday when she showed up early to a radio interview and dropped a major spoiler.

The 32-year-old finance broker arrived ahead of schedule for her appearance on Fox FM’s Fifi, Fev & Byron to avoid being silenced by her MAFS publicist.

With no one around to stop her, Hayley went rogue and shared details about her upcoming exit at Sunday night’s commitment ceremony.

When asked if she votes to stay or leave, Hayley said: ‘It’s a bit controversial what happens though. I write stay but, for the first time in the show’s history, they kick us off because David has a whinge… Spoiler!’

Hayley went on to claim that David ‘made a deal with production that no matter what [she] wrote they would let him leave’ the experiment.

It’s unclear why Hayley would have wanted to stay with David after their blow-up at Wednesday’s dinner party, but it’s possible she was doing it out of spite.

She added that she ‘comes back’ later on in the season, presumably for the girls’ night and reunion episodes.

Per the rules of Married At First Sight, couples can only quit the experiment if both participants vote to leave at a commitment ceremony.

If one person chooses to stay and the other chooses to leave, they must live together for another week and try to work through their issues.

If the relationship experts do send Hayley home on Sunday despite her decision to stay, it will be an unprecedented decision.

At Wednesday night’s dinner party, it was revealed that David had scrubbed Hayley’s toothbrush with faeces after discovering she had cheated on him with Michael Goonan.

Hayley used the toothbrush for five days before being told that footage of David contaminating it was being circulated among cast members.

She angrily confronted him at the dinner table, before playing the shocking video on her phone in front of the other couples.

The controversial scene has already been the subject of three complaints to the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA).
