Madonna apologizes to fans after injury sidelines her before NY show

Madonna apologized to her fans after a last-minute postponement of a scheduled New York show.

The pop star, 61, alerted fans on social media Monday that she would not be able to perform that night at the BAM Howard Gilman Opera House in Brooklyn due to a knee injury. According to her website, fans should “hold on to their tickets pending information on rescheduling.”

In an Instagram post, Madonna told fans that she needed to rest: “Its Hard for Madame to admit that she is also a human being made of flesh and blood and she must rest for the next 3 days to insure full recovery for her knee.”

She continued: “I am not a quitter. This hurts me more than you can imagine. Its time to take those heels and fishnets off for a few days! ?. Thank you for your understanding. ♥️. See you very soon !!”

Her scheduled shows on the Madame X tour Thursday and Saturday at the same Brooklyn venue are “expected to proceed as scheduled,” according to the website.

The singer previously postponed the beginning of her Madame X tour. While she was originally scheduled to kick off shows at the Brooklyn venue on Sept. 12, the beginning of the tour was pushed back “as a result of the highly specialized production elements being delayed.” The upcoming Thursday and Saturday shows are rescheduled from the postponed Sept. 12 and Sept. 14 tour opening dates.

“Madame ❌ Is a perfectionist and wants to give you the most unique, magical, and musical experience,” her website announced in a statement from the singer at the time. “She underestimated the amount of time it would take to bring this kind of intimate theatrical experience to you and wants it to be perfect!!! Thank you so much for your understanding.”
