Lyon president issues Jose Mourinho update amid link to former Man Utd boss

He has spoken of his desire to take charge of a club ahead of pre-season as he looks to return to football.

But president Jean-Michel Aulas says, while he has held talks with Mourinho, he will not be Lyon’s new manager.

“I saw him last summer in Moscow, we talked a bit, but not about him coming to Lyon, on transfers,” he said.

The club sit third in Ligue 1, fully 24 points behind runaway leaders Paris Saint-Germain.

Ultras group Bad Gones said: “We believe, as we said last season, that only the departure of Bruno Genesio will allow a more serene atmosphere around the club.

“Without serenity our club will not be able to reach the summits for which it is intended.”
