The fifth and final season of Lucifer is just around the corner and it looks as though the show will bring even more twists and turns than first expected.

While fans are excited to welcome the leading man Tom Ellis back onto their screens, it seems they’ll also be met with Inbar Lavi – who played Eve in season four.

To recap, the character was seen breaking away from heaven in order to rekindle her romance with the devil himself.

However, while Lucifer was left picking up the pieces after Chloe discovered his truth, Eve found herself developing a romantic spark with Maze.

Yet, despite the duo getting pretty close, she then decided to up sticks and leave her love interest behind as she went on a journey of self-discovery.

Keeping their cards close to their chest, the series showrunners Ildy Modrovich and Joe Henderson announced the news in a statement.

‘We are so excited to have Inbar back,’ they told Entertainment Weekly: ‘Last we saw her, Eve broke Maze’s heart. Soooo… a reunion between our favorite demon and the original sinner should go smoothly, right?’

It’s said that Maze will still be recovering from her heartbreak when the new season starts again.

Eve isn’t the only character that Lucifer might have to face, as the Netflix hit has also gone and cast their own version of God.

According to the publication, 24 star Dennis Haybert has been cast the Devil’s (Tom Ellis) ultimate rival and will appear ‘throughout’ the final run of 16 episodes.

The character was formerly voiced by author Neil Gaiman – on whose graphic novels the series is based upon – in the third season.

Speaking to TV Line, Movorich previously hinted that the Almighty would indeed play a part in the final endgame for the Prince of Darkness.

‘We have one other, really fun toy to play with,’ she stated, in reference to God.

The screenwriter added: ‘[Who] we know is going to be a big guiding factor in season five.’

Lucifer seasons 1-3 are available to stream now via Amazon Prime Video, season 4 is available for UK viewers on Netflix.
