STRICTLY Come Dancing’s Kevin Clifton could be demoted following his romance with Stacey Dooley after BBC bosses axed Katya Jones from the main line-up.
The family friendly show has taken a stand stand against rampant romances behind the scenes and now said they’re prepared to treat love rat Kevin the same as Katya.
Her public snog with comedian dance partner Seann Walsh created more drama on last year’s show than anything on screen and she’s now been told she won’t have a celeb partner in the next series.
When asked whether Kevin will get the same treatment the BBC told the Mail on Sunday: “We wouldn’t be treating her any differently to how we treated Kevin.
“It’s not like he is guaranteed a celebrity partner this year.”
The broadcaster also confirmed that they had conversations with Kevin and were concerned over his welfare after his ex Clare Craze revealed she took an overdose when he ended their marriage.
She downed pills days after seeing partying Kevin rub up against dance partner Karen — who he went on to marry.
The BBC added: “There were conversations to ask him what the story was all about, enough for them to feel comfortable that there is nothing in it that would raise any concerns.
“There is a duty of care to the dancers and the people who work with them on the production to make sure everyone is all right.”
Dancer Clare said she took an overdose days after Kevin, 36, told her their marriage was over.
It was only after he ditched her that she discovered “everyone was saying he had cheated on me with Karen” — with one friend saying they had been seen kissing.
She told The Sun on Sunday: “I spent the week begging him to meet up as I thought I could convince him to stay.
“I was shaking, in tears, and he got up and left.
“During that week I didn’t eat or sleep. My mother was so worried about me she took me to the doctor. It felt like all hope from my life had gone — it was overwhelming.
“Afterwards, I went to a bar and took a load of anxiety pills with another large glass of wine. My memory gets hazy then but my father told me afterwards I was found near Waterloo Bridge by passers-by who called an ambulance.
“I woke up in hospital on a drip.”
Meanwhile, Just like Kristina Rihanoff before her, Katya is being pushed out of the spotlight as Strictly’s new chief Sarah James sends a clear warning for the professionals to act professionally.
