Love Island's Sophie Gradon death inquest scrapped as new information comes to light

Love Island 2016 star Sophie Gradon died on June 20, 2018, leading to an outpouring of tributes from fans and celebrities alike.

Her cause of death has not yet been revealed and an investigation into it had been scheduled for next week.

However, the inquest into the 32-year-old’s passing has now been brought to a halt, according to The Mirror.

A representative for Northumberland Coroner’s Court confirmed: “Please note that it has been necessary to cancel the hearing date for the inquest dealing with the death of Sophie Gradon.

“Sophie’s parents have requested further time to consider a report which was only recently received”

In June, Northumbria Police said: “At about 8.27pm yesterday (June 20) police attended a property in Medburn, Ponteland, where sadly a 32-year-old woman was found deceased.

“There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding her death. A report will now be prepared for the coroner.”

Less than three weeks after her death, Sophie’s boyfriend Aaron Armstrong was found dead in his Northumberland home.

His social media posts from the time suggested he was struggling to deal with the loss of Sophie.

After attending Sophie’s funeral in July, he wrote: “I love you with all my heart my beautiful angel. I’m absolutely heartbroken. I can’t stop crying and I can feel your spirit in my soul. RIP Sophie Hannah Gradon.”

His final Instagram update, on July 9, read: “Just wish I could cuddle you all day, miss you so much man.

Sophie shot to stardom after appearing on the 2016 series of Love Island, which documented her rocky romance with Thomas Powell.

The Geordie lass made history as one of the first same-sex pairings on the show, alongside Livepool babe Katie Salmon.
