Malin Andersson attempted suicide after the loss of her baby daughter.

The Love Island star’s four-week-old daughter Consy died in January after she was born seven weeks prematurely.

And Malin, 26, has revealed she struggled to cope with the devastating loss.

The reality star posted a picture of her caesarean scar to Instagram to mark both World Mental Health Day and Baby Loss Awareness Week.

Malin wrote: ‘The death of a baby is not a rare event. It can happy to anyone. I share my story, not just for any reason, but to give strength to those who have gone through similar, to drive improvements in the bereavement care and support available for those affected and in remembrance for my little girl Consy and others.

‘It is also World Mental Health Day (Suicide Prevention) ?- and I for one know that I felt so low I attempted to take my own life – from previous events and also losing my baby. Straight after losing my baby girl I had no family around me and no support apart from my closest friends, and @sandscharity reaching out to me.

‘Hospitals did not reach out to me apart from to discuss the post mortem and to register her birth and death at the same time. Not everyone has somebody there for them – It all links together, and the only way that we can create change and more awareness is to spread the word.’

She concluded: ‘We remember the babies born sleeping, those we carried but never held, those we held but could not take home, those who came home but could not stay.’

Fans praised Malin for being so open with her experiences, with Geordie Shore star Holly Hagan leaving a string of heart emojis under the picture.

Malin confirmed the devastating news that Consy had died a day after she had passed, sharing a picture of her baby on Instagram.

She wrote: ‘Completely in love with you.. and my Mum just wanted you to be with her. Your time wasn’t ready yet. Mummy loves you. I stayed with you each day.. you opened your eyes one last time for me and I saw those beautiful big brown eyes.

‘I’m so sorry I couldn’t do anymore. Go be with grandma Consy. ❤️ My angel. Rest in peace CONSY GLORIA EMMA ANDERSSON-KEMP 23/12/18-22/01/19.’

Malin – who appeared on Love Island in 2016 – previously told Metro.co.uk that she didn’t want to let her loss define her as a person.

The make-up artist said: ‘Everyone deals with different things in their life. Everyone goes through stuff, but it’s how you process it and deal with it that matters the most. ‘You can either let it consume you, or you could just let it evolve you as a person and use it as a kind of strength.

‘When you suffer stuff or loss. If you let it kind of define who you are, it will eat you up. So it’s best to let it make you a better person.’
