Love Island winner Amber Gill almost quit show after being dumped by Michael Griffiths in Casa Amor twist

Love Island winner Amber Gill has revealed she considered walking out of the villa after her Casa Amor embarrassment.

The 21-year-old from Newcastle was crowned the winner of the ITV2 dating show last night alongside her new man Greg O’Shea – but things weren’t always smooth sailing for her.

Amber has now admitted that being dumped by ex Michael Griffiths for Joanna Chimonides, after her brief stint in Casa Amor, wasn’t like a “normal” break-up.

When asked if she ever considered quitting, she told Standard Online today: “Definitely after I walked out back from Casa Amor, it was quite a hard situation for me to be in. You never normally watch an ex crack on with a new girl – and sitting by yourself – and everyone is coupled up.”

After weeks of tears and back and forth with Michael, rugby player Greg arrived in the villa late in the competition –  and immediately struck up a strong connection with Amber.

Amber then decided to couple up with Greg despite a late revelation from Michael – who was suddenly single after Joanna left the show –  which saw the firefighter confess that he still had feelings for the beautician.

Amber added: “It was quite hard and it did run thought my head that maybe I should leave. But then I thought ‘you’d regret it if you leave’ and definitely know I would have now.”

A peak audience of 4.1 million tuned in to watch Amber and Greg – who have only been dating for 12 days – beat Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury, who have been a couple for most of the show.

The reality TV star revealed she was shocked that have beaten Tommy and Molly-Mae considering the length of their relationship.

“Because we have only been together for such a short period of time, we weren’t expecting it,” she said.

Greg also revealed their plans to meet each other’s family and friends.

He said: “We have only known each other a couple of weeks, and it has been amazing and when we get out now I want to see Newcastle.

“She wants to see Dublin. I want to meet the rest of her family and show her my friends. We can’t wait to do it.”

Love Island’s Michael Recouples With Joanna, Leaving Amber Single

Confirming that they are an exclusive couple, the Irish man said: “I don’t think it is in our nature to see other people. I know it’s only early stages but definitely, we are only seeing each other.”

Amber and Greg’s interview comes after Michael shared a video of himself speechless at his ex’s win as Love Island confirmed to the Standard that last night’s episode was watched by 3.63 million live and VOSDAL TV viewers, with a further 400,000 viewers streaming on non-TV devices.

The broadcaster said that the series 5 finale has become the most-watched Love Island final in history.

ITV confirmed earlier this month that Love Island will return early in 2020 for a winter series, with another season following in the traditional summer slot, in response to a “record breaking year.”

The additional series will be filmed in a brand new villa in Cape Town, South Africa.
