Love Island fans expecting to see Ollie Williams leave the villa on Tuesday night would have been surprised to see his exit scenes delayed until the following episode.

Ollie has quit the show after three days, claiming that he still has feelings for his ex-girlfriend.

The islander was previously coupled up with Paige Turley, the ex-girlfriend of singer Lewis Capaldi, but the pair hadn’t exactly been getting along recently.

In a trailer for Wednesday night’s episode, Ollie is seen making an announcement to the other islanders as narrator Iain Stirling hinted: ‘For one boy it’s the moment of truth.’

The 23-year-old tells the group: ‘This is probably the hardest decision I’ve ever made.’

It then shows the rest of the islanders reacting in shock to what Ollie says.

We now know that Ollie is set to make an exit on screen tomorrow night, saying in the beach hut: ‘I have to be honest with myself, and everyone, that I do still love someone else… I have to follow my heart in this scenario and it would be wrong for me to ignore these feelings.

‘At the end of the day, this is Love Island and it’s about finding love. If I carried on anything with Paige, or any other girl that might come into the villa, it wouldn’t be fair on them.’

He is yet to address his exit directly, but a teaser of Tuesday’s installment was shared from his Instagram account.

Ollie became one of the most controversial islanders ever after pictures of him posing with dead animals emerged online.

Complaints about the ex-islander doubled across the first two episodes of this series, jumping up from 231 to 467.

‘The total number of complaints we have received about Ollie across the first two episodes is 467,’ a spokesperson told Metro.co.uk.

‘We are assessing these complaints against our broadcasting rules, but are yet to decide whether or not to investigate.’

Elsewhere on Tuesday’s show, Mike Boateng – after some dithering about, it has to be said – decided to pie off Jess Gale and stick with Leanne Amaning, who he coupled up with in the villa on the first day. Bless.

Love Island airs daily at 9pm on ITV2.
