Louis Tomlinson admitted that he ‘wasn’t ready’ when One Direction decided to go on hiatus to focus on their solo careers four years ago.

The singer is only ‘just finding his feet’ with the upcoming release of his new album.

Appearing on The One Show, the 28-year-old said: ‘We’ve been on a break four years, I’m only just getting round to releasing my first album.

‘Fans who follow our every move every day probably feel we’ve not been a group for a while, but to us we’re… I know I am just finding my feet really.’

The Two Of Us singer believes he will reunite with former band members Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan and Liam Payne in the future.

‘I think it’ll happen at some point, we’d be stupid not to. I think we’re kind of exploring and enjoying ourselves individually’, the star revealed.

Zayn was the first to leave the group in 2015 as he wanted to ‘relax and have some private time out of the spotlight.’

A year later, 1D announced they would be going on an indefinite hiatus after the release of their fifth studio album Made In The AM.

He added: ‘I wasn’t ready, to be honest, I had an idea we might have a small break because we’d done a lot of work in a small amount of time.

During the show, the singer-songwriter gave the world-first performance of his new single, which is also the title-track to his first-ever solo LP, dropping next Friday.

To make the debut of his new single all the more special, the 28-year-old was also introduced live by long-time fan Isabella and her brother, who have connected with the star thanks to sign language.

And it’s fair to say that following Louis’ performance, all the Directioners were suitably going mad on social media.

We get a new song AND a possible One Direction reunion? We need to sit down.
