Loose Women's Ruth Langsford kisses mum through window amid coronavirus pandemic


Ruth Langsford shared the heartbreaking way she had to share Mother’s Day with her mum.

The Loose Women star was forced to kiss her mum through a window after the elderly were advised to self-isolate at home for 12 weeks.

Ruth, 60, shared the adorable moment to her Instagram page as she told her thousands of followers that she hadn’t forgotten her mum on the special day.

The This Morning star tapped her hand on the window to get her mum’s attention before saying: “Gis’ a kiss… Happy Mother’s Day!”

Ruth and her mum, Joan then went on to touch hands through the glass as they gazed lovingly at one another.

Speaking to her mum, Ruth said: “It is odd, isn’t it?” before her mum nodded.

Addressing her 771,000 followers Ruth captioned the heartbreaking video: “Locked down but not forgotten! Happy Mother’s Day Mum….love her!”

Her legion of celebrity pals instantly took to the comment section, with Loose Women co-star Andrea McLean saying: “Ah Ruth that made me cry.”

TV personality Lizzie Cundy added: “That’s just too sweet for words. Happy Mother’s Day to you both.”

Saira Khan also commented: “Ahhhhh Ruth made me bloody cry”.

The current coronavirus pandemic has already impacted Ruth’s life after she was forced to scrap her 60th birthday party.

Her husband and tele host Eamonn Holmes had planned to take Ruth to Italy to celebrate the landmark birthday but was forced to cancel after Italian borders closed.

Recently, Prime Minister Boris Johnson called for drastic measures to ensure the COVID-19 virus outbreak is minimised.

He has encouraged people to stay indoors and only go outside if necessary and to stay at least two metres away from people.

Loose Women recently announced that they will be axing live shows to minimise the amount of staff in the building at one time.
