If you fancy a trip to a film-inspired theme park, you usually have to meticulously plan a trip to Disneyland Paris, the UK’s closest attraction.

Not anymore – London is set to get its own version of the good stuff and it’s led by the film studio Paramount Pictures.

That means selfies with Don Corleone from The Godfather, saying hi to Bumblebee from Transformers and checking out Tom Cruise’s stunt locations from Mission: Impossible.

The plans for the park have been in the works for a while but came to a halt some years ago over disagreements on film rights.

Now, the park’s backers, London Resort Company Holdings, has signed a deal with ITV to bring Thunderbirds attractions to the venue.

Sadly though, we’ll have to wait until 2024 before it launches.

The London Resort will be based on Swanscombe Peninsula, between Gravesend and Dartford, boasting movie gimmicks on many of its rides on the 872-acre site.

You might want to grab your pals when it opens because the theme park will feature a 2,000-seat theatre, more than 50 rides and attractions, as well as a huge nightclub.

The exciting venture in the capital is set to create around 27,000 jobs for Londoners and alike.

And you can catch all the fun for a cheaper price than Disneyland Paris, as tickets are expected to be around £57 per person for The London Resort.

The folks bringing you the resort are also experienced in the area, with the new chief executive having been in charge of the Millennium Dome, now known as the O2.

‘The new partnership with Paramount is fantastic news for everyone,’ PY Gerbeau, the newly appointed chief executive, told Kent Online.

‘Now the best of Hollywood will be joining the best of British from BBC Studios and ITV Studios, to create amazing and unique experiences for the whole family.

‘I am delighted to join The London Resort and to play my part in helping to create a world-class destination to rival all others.

‘Central to that strategy is to partner with the best brands from across TV, film, music and entertainment.

‘Having Paramount on board is a major step towards realising that ambition.’

Can 2024 hurry up already so we can plan our day out to the resort?
