Lizzie Curious invites us into her electronic world with a joyful selection of house music

PROLIFIC UK producer, DJ and vocalist Lizzie Curious has delivered to our ears a true summer anthem with her new collaboration One Day with Doc Brown.

With two Billboard number one hits to her name there is no question her music connects with the masses, and the universal message contained in her newest collaboration with Doc Brown rings true today more than ever. Complimented with a stripped down and tough remix from chart regulars Vanilla Ace & Jax D, this is one of those releases sure to be kept in continuous rotation well into the future and is set to ignite dance floors as the business of dancing gets back underway in the UK next month.

We caught up with Lizzie this week and asked her to talk us through a selection of music that will spread joy on the dance floor. She told us:

“I always try to pack my DJ sets with uplifting tracks that will ignite the crowd and create that magical feeling of unity and togetherness. Here’s ten house tunes that fuel my curious energy and are guaranteed to spread joy on the dance floor…. nothing but good vibes!”

Lizzie Curious & Doc Brown- One Day [Unlearn Records]

“This is my brand new single, which Doc Brown and I wrote this track together during the tough times of last year. I feel it’s a great fusion of both our styles: a pumping tech house groove and an anthemic breakdown with a huge piano riff and a captivating vocal hook! During lockdown we trialled it to our wonderful Twitch communities and it’s been getting a great response. It’s truly exciting now to see it being played to crowds in real life – we hope it’s a tune that really lifts and unites the dance floor.”

David Penn – Scream 4 Love (Micky More & Andy Tee Remix) [Groove Culture]

“I have been a huge fan of David Penn’s productions for many years. It’s wonderful to hear his fantastic tune from the early 2000s Scream 4 Love getting a much welcomed new lease of life, courtesy of this fantastic remix from Micky More and Andy Tee. This new cut adds a classic piano, whilst still allowing the stunning vocals from Sheylah Cuffy to shine through. From the rhodes keyboard licks to the solid groove and crisp percussion, the attention to detail in this remix is second to none and will undoubtedly see Scream 4 Love filling dancefloors for many more years to come.”

Peter Brown & Lizzie Curious- This Feeling (Romy Black remix) [In It Together Records]

“This Feeling was one of those collabs where everything came together magically, classic house pianos melded with a soulful vocal, adding a special touch to the track. Our original had a deep balearic vibe, and I just love how Romy Black has catapulted the tune into peak time territory. By adding a very groovy bassline and keeping that piano and vocal hook centre stage, Romy’s remix of This Feeling combines everything I love about house music, to create memorable hands-in-the-air moments!”

Alex Preston – Love You Better [Toolroom Records]

“What could be better than taking a classic hook from Steely Dan and working into a groovy house track that’s packed with positive energy! Alongside being an amazing producer, Alex is also a fantastic guitarist, and you can hear his trademark riffs in full effect, alongside those catchy vocals, brass and crisps disco house beats.”

Milk & Sugar – Let The Sun Shine (Purple Disco Machine Remix) [Milk & Sugar Recordings]

“Let The Sun Shine is the quintessential summer house track! The Purple Disco Machine remix perfectly blends all of the anthemic elements together, adding his own magic touches to create something truly special. This is one of those tunes that’s soaked in happy vibes and is guaranteed to have everyone singing along.”

Carly Wilford & Mai Mai – Together For The Love [Basement Sounds]

“Carly Wilford made a huge splash on Toolroom with her debut track earlier this year, and here she teams up US producer Mai Mai to deliver a cut that is packed with positivity.

Shimmering vocals combine with solid house grooves and a really catchy saxophone – I can’t get enough of it!”

Lizzie Curious & James Hurr – In Your House [Toolroom Records]

“An insanely catchy trumpet riff, a powerful diva vocal and a solid tech house groove – In Your House is a track that’s packed with feel-good carnival vibes. We’ve had big support from the likes of Fatboy Slim and Mark Knight for this one and I can’t wait to be able to play it out in the sunshine this summer!”

Ridney, Angie Brown & Richard Earnshaw – Believe (Mighty Mouse Remix) [Let There Be House]

“If ever there was a powerhouse combination, it’s Ridney, Richard Earnshaw with the fabulous vocal talents of Angie Brown! Believe is such a strong, uplifting song, delivered expertly by one of my all time favourite vocalists. The Mighty Mouse remix steers the tune into a sensational disco cut, with the addition of fantastic keys and synths that give it a really unique, live, flavour.”

Dave Spoon – Steels [Toolroom Records]

“Caribbean steel drums give this tune an unmistakable summer identity, with the edgy groove and brass stabs adding an extra element of excitement to this track. The melody is simple yet insanely catchy – I have no doubt that this track will be huge this summer.”

Stacie Fields – The Gift [Basement Sounds]

“Ah yeah, you know, life is a wonderful gift’…. indeed it is – and thank you to the talented Australian producer Stacie Fields for gifting us with this absolute gem of tune! The Gift’ is a vibrant, feel-good house track guaranteed to get everyone grinning from ear to ear.”
