Liverpool trio Salah, Mane and Firmino sent transfer warning by Reds hero

Liverpool legend John Aldridge claims Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino will only be considered proper club legends if they stay at Anfield for a long time.

Salah, Mane and Firmino have built a dominant trio in attack as they have scored a staggering 213 goals between them and played a big part in the Reds’ Champions League triumph last season.

The star forwards are also a major driving force behind Liverpool’s Premier League title bid but all that won’t be enough to cement them as proper icons if they end up leaving the same way other great players did.

Aldridge claims that the likes of Luis Suarez, Philippe Coutinho and Fernando Torres, whose name he refuses to say out loud, can’t be considered Kop legends because they didn’t spend enough time at the Merseyside club.

The legendary striker hopes Mane, Salah and Firmino understand that they need to serve the club for a long time to reach the same level as the likes of Kenny Dalglish, Ian Rush, Steven Gerrard and more.

Aldridge told Goal: “I think you have to love the club, and you have to stay at the club for a long time.

“I hope that these players understand that.

“They’re getting there [legendary status], for sure.

“We’re not fickle as Liverpool fans.

“And to become a proper Liverpool icon you have to do certain things.

“I think you have to love the club, and you have to stay at the club for a long time.

“I hope that these players understand that.”

Liverpool have won all of their first eight Premier League matches of the season and are sitting comfortably in first place with eight points ahead of title rivals Manchester City.

Jurgen Klopp’s men will take on Manchester United this Sunday at Old Trafford (4.30pm).
