Liverpool transfer round-up: Reds eye Ismaila Sarr, PSG's Joel Matip interest

Liverpool are finally Premier League champions having ended their 30-year wait for a title last
season, but Jurgen Klopp and his players can’t afford to rest on their laurels.

The likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United all look set to strengthen
this summer and so the Reds will have a target on their back.

It’s not certain how much money the Anfield club will have to sign new players this summer having failed in their efforts to land Timo Werner from RB Leipzig, but that hasn’t stopped speculation from swirling.

Here are today’s biggest and most intriguing Liverpool transfer stories.

Ismaila Sarr scored twice against the Reds earlier this year

Liverpool interested in signing Watford star

Liverpool are one of three Premier League clubs to have shown an interest in signing Watford
winger Ismaila Sarr this summer.

The 22-year-old arrived at Vicarage Road in a £30 million deal from Rennes last summer and
caught the eye with a number of impressive displays for the Hornets in the Premier League this
season.

Watford ultimately suffered relegation to the Championship at the end of the campaign but Sarr
was one of their standout performers and put Liverpool to the sword in a 3-0 win that ended the
Reds’ hopes of an unbeaten league season in February.

The Watford Observer reports Crystal Palace and Wolves are also keen on Sarr, although their
interest would only firm up if Wilfried Zaha and Adama Traore were sold by the respective clubs
this summer.

Joel Matip is of interest to PSG

Matip could be depart for PSG

Liverpool may be willing to sell Joel Matip to Paris Saint-Germain this summer in order to raise
funds for a move for Kalidou Koulibaly.

The Ligue 1 champions have been linked with a surprise swoop for the Cameroonian defender
who played only 13 times for Liverpool in the Premier League last season due to injury issues.

PSG reportedly see Matip as the ideal replacement for Thiago Silva after he left the club at the end of his contract and journalist Angu Lesley (via the Daily Express) claims Liverpool may be open to doing a deal.

The money raised from that transfer would then be used to fund a move for Napoli centre back
Koulibaly, who has been consistently rumoured to be on the radar of the Premier League
champions.

Liverpool fail in first attempt to sign Betis defender

Real Betis have rejected an initial offer of £9 million from Liverpool for defender Aissa Mandi,
although there is still hope for the Reds that they will get their man.

Mirror Sport understands the Spanish club have rebuffed the bid from the Premier League
champions, but have made clear an offer of £10.8 million might be enough to get a deal over the
line.

Liverpool are in the market for a new central defender after the sale of Dejan Lovren to Zenit St
Petersburg and Mandi, who is out of contract at Real Betis in 2021, has been identified as a target.
