Ray Parlour congratulated ‘special’ Liverpool for winning their first Premier League title but insists the ‘hardest bit’ is always retaining it.

Jurgen Klopp’s men stormed past their rivals to be crowned champions of English football for the first time in 30 years and Parlour thinks they will look to strengthen in the summer transfer window.

Their potential title rivals will no doubt do the same.

Manchester City won the title in the preceeding two seasons and will hope to bounce back, Chelsea have already landed Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech in what’s set to be a big summer for Frank Lampard’s side and Manchester United are also tipped to spend big as they look to close the gap at the top.

But Parlour believes Liverpool are the team to beat and he is backing them to win back-to-back titles.

‘Don’t get arrogant, enjoy the moment,’ Parlour told TalkSport. ‘Champions of England, which is fantastic for the club – 30 years since they’ve won it.

‘You’ve got to enjoy it but now it’s all about next season. Can you retain your title? That is the hardest bit.

‘But this is a special team, it certainly is. Every single position, they’re very strong.

‘There’s not a lot of weaknesses there, is there? Sometimes in a team there’s a little weakness there but I look at this Liverpool team and don’t see any weaknesses.

‘I’m sure they’ll be looking at the market as well saying, “Can we strengthen a little bit more? Bring in one or two faces in again. Let’s stick with the nucleus of players we’ve got but if we add a few more as well then that gives us even more of a chance.”

‘I’d definitely put them as favourites to win it.’
