Virgil van Dijk may have been booed by England fans, but the Liverpool star got the last laugh over the Three Lions travelling support – and Raheem Sterling.
Netherlands came from behind to progress to the final of the Uefa Nations League, as England were beaten 3-1 after capitulating in extra-time.
Two shocking errors handed the Netherlands the victory, but Liverpool fans were more interested in a brief tussle between Van Dijk and former Red, Sterling.
Van Dijk was muscled off the ball superbly by Sterling, who sped off towards the Netherlands goal in the second half with the game locked at 1-1.
But a couple of powerful strides allowed Van Dijk to catch up with Sterling, just in time to nick the ball away from the Manchester City forward.
Liverpool supporters loved Van Dijk’s instant revenge move and were howling on Twitter, as their talisman sent Sterling packing.
