Liverpool fan makes ABSURD trophy demand after Man City close in on Premier League title

Liverpool fell back behind City last night as the reigning champions beat Leicester 1-0.

It means Pep Guardiola’s side go into Sunday’s final day one point clear of the Reds.

Liverpool have never won the Premier League but could still land an incredible points haul of 97 with victory over Wolves on Sunday.

That would eclipse every Premier League title winner in history except City from last season.

Of course, should City beat Brighton on Sunday, they will finish on 98 points.

But Liverpool fan Cameron believes that feat alone should be enough to earn Jurgen Klopp’s side a trophy.

“I’m a Liverpool fan and because it been such a gripping title race, I just thought, we should get a trophy even if we come second this year,” he said on talkSPORT.

“If we get 97 points, that’s the best – apart from City last year – anyone has got.

“Alex Ferguson never got that many points and Jürgen Klopp has come in… it’s phenomenal, especially against this City team who have spent all that money.”

When asked what the trophy should be called, Cameron responded: “Like… Premier League joint-winners? Well, not joint winners…

“You don’t need to name it, just give it to Liverpool.”

Liverpool are likely to come so near yet so far in both the Premier League and Champions League this season.

The Reds are 3-0 down to Barcelona heading into the second leg of their European semi-final.

But Dean Saunders has changed his mind on whether a trophyless season is a failure.

“If you would have asked me at the start of the season, ‘if Liverpool don’t win a trophy is it failure?’, I would have said yes, because they gave the manager another £200million to spend on five players,” he said.

“But now, after seeing the way the season had panned out, it’s not a failure.

“To lose the league with 97 points, it’s just tragic bad luck.

“It’s like the best race horse in the world going ten lengths clear and then another horse from nowhere comes and beats you on the line.”
